Enjoy the fun and challenge of mermaid swimming in this certification course for teens and adults! This course contains (2) in person classroom sessions with a live instructor AND also (2) pool sessions where you learn and practice freediving and mermaid skills. The in water and classroom sessions are alternated on your class date. Upon mastery of course skills you will receive a Mermaid certification from PADI in the mail. The PADI Mermaid certification program is a great choice if you are interested in learning the fundamentals of freediving safety, ocean and water ecology, and mermaid swimming. All classes are taught by a real professional mermaid! CLASS DATES / TIMES: IN PERSON CLASSROOM & POOL SESSIONS - 12-6 PST July 2, 2021 AGES: For Ages 10-Adult. Minor children must have a parent or guardian remain on site. No "drop offs" are allowed. REQUIRED SWIM ABILITY: * The ability to swim at least 50m without swim aids / floatation devices. * The ability to back float on the water's surface at least 5 minutes without sinking. * The ability to submerge and swim under water without panicking. WHAT EQUIPMENT IS INCLUDED: * 1 Fabric mermaid tail rental with monofin WHAT EQUIPMENT / SUPPLIES TO BRING: * 1 J-Style Freediving Snorkel * 1 Low-Volume, Freediving SCUBA Mask * 1 Swimming / Synchro Style Nose Clip OR Sinus Saver Nose Plugs * 1 Set Doc's VENTED Pro Plugs for Ears * 1 Freediving Weight Belt with Small Increment Weights (about eight-ten 1# weights is normal)... this estimation calculator can help: https://scubaotter.com/scuba-diving-weight-calculator/ * A SECURE Swimsuit (NO Bikinis please!) * Towels * 1 Pair of Freediving Long Fins OR Bifins (standard SCUBA style fins) * You are welcome to bring a 3-5mm wetsuit to wear if you get cold easily. * Face mask or face covering (COVID precautions) * A notebook, sun hat, sunglasses, sunblock, water bottle, snacks, sandals, and warm clothes to change in to. * A wetsuit (5mm recommended) PERSONAL TAIL USAGE: Cape Cali Divetails (Mahina monofin) and the Mertailor Whimsy (Linden monofin) are the preferred brand of choice for this class if you want to bring your own tail. The following types of mermaid tails are also approved for this class: FinFun, The2Tails, and Suntails. No other brands are currently allowed.
