Service Description

This is to book a private class, discounts are available for 2+ people. Worried that your loved one will be safe swimming in a mermaid fin? How about taking a big first step towards becoming a swimming mermaid performer? In this class you and/or your child will learn about the basics of mermaid swimming and freediving (apnea diving) with an on deck learning class followed by an in-water pool session with a max depth of 10ft. This is a hybrid eLearning class that has an online learning portion before the pool. After successful completion of this class you and/or your child will receive a PADI Basic Mermaid card. AGES / ABILITIES: Children must be at least 6 years of age (recommended age 8+), at least 48" tall, and be able to float for 3 minutes, swim independently for at least 25m, and be fully comfortable putting their face in the water and swimming underwater without goggles. It is recommended that any children attending have already passed their Red Cross Learn to Swim Level 3 Standard (or YMCA Swim Lesson Level 4) before signing up. The max depth in this class is 10 ft. Please be sure that if you are enrolling a child that they are comfortable swimming in deep water. WHAT TO BRING: Towels, a SECURE swimsuit, snorkel, mask, bifins, weightbelt w/ weights, sandals, sunblock, drinking water, and a change of clothing. You will also need to bring your own mermaid tail or monofin. SAFETY: Please DO NOT bring oversized mermaid tails or tails with extra side fins / drag on the fluke to this class. Finfolk Productions "Signature" style tails are not allowed in this class. "Elite" Mermaid tails by FinFun are not allowed in this class. REQUIRED PAPERWORK: A liability release form, the mermaiding practices statement of understanding, and also a diver medical form. These need to be printed, filled out, and brought with you to class. STUDENT : INSTRUCTOR RATIOS Lessons are private unless you ask us to add on people to your group (extra cost). Here are the ratios we have to maintain: 1:1 for Ages 6-8 2:1 for Ages 8-10 4:1 for Ages 10-Adult LOCATION: This class is held in either Simi Valley or Thousand Oaks based on which pool has training space open on the day that you want to learn. REFUNDS: No refunds are given for no-shows or cancellations less than 30 business days in advance.8

Cancellation Policy

A $75 fee will be applied to any rescheduling request. Cancellations will not be refunded any non-refundable fees such as PADI eLearning fees, credit card fees, facility rental fees, pool lane reservation fees, or other external pre-paid things that were already paid for and are not returnable / cancellable for your class for any reason. Any "no shows" are not eligible for any form of refund or credit.
