PADI Discover Mermaid Certification

Service Description

In this one hour class you or your child will learn how to put on a mermaid tail or fin, the basics of safe breath hold techniques, how to enter and exit the water, how to float, and then have a bit of time to play and to take photos. After successful completion of this class your child will receive a PADI Discover Mermaid card in the mail. AGES / ABILITIES: Children must be at least 6 years of age, at least 48" tall, and be able to float and swim independently, including putting their face in the water and swimming underwater. It is recommended that any children attending have already passed their Red Cross Learn to Swim Level 3 Standard (or YMCA Swim Lesson Level 4) before signing up. WHAT TO BRING: Towels, a SECURE swimsuit, goggles, sandals, sunblock, drinking water, and a change of clothing. Please bring your own monofin or mermaid tail. SAFETY: Please DO NOT bring oversized mermaid tails or tails with extra side fins / drag on the fluke to this class. Finfolk Productions "Signature" style tails are not allowed in this class. "Elite" Mermaid tails by FinFun are not allowed in this class. REQUIRED PAPERWORK: A liability release form, the mermaiding practices statement of understanding, and also a diver medical form. These need to be printed, filled out, and brought with you to class. STUDENT : INSTRUCTOR RATIOS Classes are private lessons unless you let us know that you would like to add an extra person on (extra cost). If you do, here are our group size limits: 1:1 for Ages 6-8 2:1 for Ages 8-10 4:1 for Ages 10-Adult LOCATION: This class is held in either Simi Valley or Thousand Oaks based on which pool has training space open on the day that you want to learn. REFUNDS: No refunds are given for no-shows or cancellations less than 14 business days in advance.
