MATERIALS Be sure to bring your own bifins (like what SCUBA divers use) as we do NOT provide them. If you want to rent other materials you can choose to add them on for your class. You should also bring your own towels, a secure swimsuit, sandals, and a change of clothing. Layers with sweatshirts or jackets are suggested for on deck training segments during cold days. LOCATION A private, heated, pool in Simi Valley, CA. The pool temp is typically between 86-90 degrees F for optimal comfort. COMMON QUESTIONS Q1: Will this make me a professional mermaid? A1: It is a very good first step to working towards becoming a professional mermaid. Becoming a professional mermaid includes extra things like having liability insurance, a registered business or DBA, a show, and performance training in addition to mermaid tail swimming skills. Some companies also require lifeguard or SCUBA certifications. So, if you want to go down that route then this is a piece of that journey. Q2: Can I film it? A2: We only allow filming during specific sections of this class to help students to focus while learning and for our instructors to focus on watching their students. Filming is only done with participant and instructor agreement to respect privacy. Q3: Is this at the ocean? A3: No. This is a pool-based course with an e-learning section. It does not happen at the ocean. Q4: What type of tail or monofin should I bring? A4: Anything that has a good quality monofin without excess drag / fabric fins.
